Prayer Shawl Ministry

“You created every part of me, knitting me in my Mother’s womb.  For such handiwork, I praise you ~ Awesome this great wonder!” Psalm 139: 13-14

Saint Joan of Arc Prayer Shawl Ministry puts an emphasis                          on the needs of others through prayer.

Care and the love of crochet and knitting have been combined into a prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace.  Many blessings are crocheted/knitted into every shawl.  Our crafters begin each shawl with prayers for the recipient.  Intentions are continued throughout the creation of the shawl.  When the shawl is completed, it is offered a final blessing by Father before being sent along its way.

As this gift has been sent along, some recipients have continued the kindness by requesting one for another in need.  Thus the blessing is rippled from person to person, with both the giver and the receiver feeling the unconditional embrace of a sheltering, Mothering God!

Our prayer shawls are presented to folks undergoing medical procedures, as a comfort after a loss of a loved one, during an illness and recovery, ministering to others.

We are non-denominational.

To make a shawl personal, Our Ministry adorns the shawl with beads, a shell, feather, crucifix, a Blessed Mother and Saint Joan of Arc medal, angel, and silver thread.  Each symbol has a special meaning which is written on the recipient’s prayer card.  A blessing is offered by the giver when the shawl is presented.

Our Ministry enters each recipient’s name in our prayer book.  We remember every one who has received a prayer shawl and their intentions in our daily prayers and each time we meet.

We are truly blessed in that we are able to use the talents God gave us to share His love with others.

Saint Joan of Arc Prayer Shawl Ministry meets once a month, 6 months a year from 7 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the school building.  Come ready to crochet/knit or our experienced crafters will be happy to teach you.  We furnish the yarn. We also need help in tying the symbols on the shawls. OR, just come and chit-chat.  ALL ARE WELCOME
